QA&TEST Embedded 2025: Three Days of Innovation, Inspiration, and Community in Bilbao

Oct 27, 2025 | QA&TEST Embedded

SQS, the organizer of the international conference QA&TEST Embedded, held a new edition from October 22 to 24 at the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao, bringing together experts and professionals from around the world in the field of testing and software quality for embedded systems.

Over three intense days, attendees enjoyed talks, tutorials, debates, and networking activities that highlighted the sector’s key trends,  from test automation and AI applied to quality assurance to software energy efficiency and strategies for industrial and safety-critical systems.

A strong start full of ideas and hands-on learning

The conference opened with three practical tutorials that set the technical and collaborative tone for the event:
Setting Up an Embedded Unit Testing Project from Scratch with CMake and Google TestLuis Dias (Andersen)
Revolutionizing Product Security Validation with Generative AIDor Levy (Cellebrite)
Code Review++: Leveling Up Your AutomationShmuel Gershon (Palo Alto Networks)

After the welcome lunch,  a perfect opportunity to enjoy Bilbao’s gastronomy and exchange ideas among speakers and attendees , came the official opening and the keynote by Florian Rohde (iprocess LLC), “Inside Tesla: The birth of the SDV, and why the traditional carmakers are struggling to keep up.”
The session offered a fascinating perspective on the future of software-defined vehicles.

The day continued with the first technical tracks, Test/QA Management and Test Automation, exploring how to scale software quality and automate increasingly complex environments.

AI, safety-critical systems, and new testing techniques

The second day focused on artificial intelligence applied to testing and mission-critical environments.
Tracks 3, 4, 5, and 6 addressed key topics such as how to define and use effective metrics to assess the quality of AI-driven software, DevTestOps strategies, model-based testing for medical devices, and exploratory and checklist-based testing techniques to strengthen quality engineering.

The morning began with a particularly meaningful keynote: “35 years in 60 minutes” by Michael Stahl, another veteran member of the QA&TEST Technical Committee and one of the most respected professionals in the field of software testing worldwide. His talk was both a tribute to the evolution of our profession and a celebration of its maturity and global impact.

As always, collaboration was at the heart of QA&TEST: coffee breaks, lunches, and a gala dinner at Sociedad Bilbaína where attendees and speakers exchanged experiences and strengthened the international network that makes this conference so special.

Industry, sustainability, and an unforgettable finale

The third day focused on Testing & QA in the Industrial Sector and Testing the Energy Efficiency of Software, with speakers such as Ariel Cymberknoh (Mobileye) and Bryan Bakker (Sioux Technologies) , both long-standing and much-loved members of the QA&TEST Technical Committee , together with Oliver Cronk (Scott Logic) and Janne Kalliola (Exove), who emphasized the importance of energy efficiency and sustainability in software development.

To conclude, QA&TEST surprised everyone once again with the musical keynote “Non-atomic Operations of Builders and Breakers” by Lena Nyström & Samuel Nitsche — a creative fusion of music, rhythm, and testing that perfectly embodied the innovative and open spirit of the conference.

An international meeting that grows every year

QA&TEST Embedded 2025 welcomed speakers and attendees from more than 20 countries, some travelling from as far as India, Canada, the United States, Hong Kong, and Finland.
Three days of knowledge, inspiration, and generosity that further establish Bilbao as an international meeting point for embedded software quality.

At SQS, we sincerely thank all participants, speakers, and partners who made this edition possible.

Very soon, we will open both the Call for Papers and registration for QA&TEST Embedded 2026.
See you next year — with new topics, more innovation, and, of course, a few surprises!
